We want to respectfully acknowledge that all our trail races here in the South Sound are on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish people, specifically the Nisqually, Cowliz, Chehalis and Squaxin Island peoples.
The Beast of Big Creek up to Mount Ellinor is on the traditional territories of the Twana/Skokomish, Coast Salish and S’Klallam people.
Olympia and the South Puget Sound region are covered by the Treaty of Medicine Creek, signed under duress in 1854. Rock Candy Running is acknowledging the Tribal governments and their roles today in taking care of these lands.
Beast of Big Creek is granted by a Special Use Permit through the Olympic National Forest, U.S. Forest Service. In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
We love supporting, and being supported by these amazing organizations. We couldn’t do this without them. Thank you.
